This database identifies the members and prospects of The National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET). This national association is “dedicated to rendering all possible support and assistance to those preparing for or teaching in the field of special education. NASET was founded to promote the profession of special education teachers and to provide a national forum for their ideas.”

NASET seeks to promote standards of excellence and innovation in special education research, practice, and policy in order to foster exceptional teaching for exceptional children. Among the ways the association communicates with members are special education database, the Special Educator e-Journal, News Alerts, Career Center, conferences and workshops and recognition for exceptional teachers.

The Association covers issues and concerns to teachers of “exceptional” students whose fundamental educational rights are mandated under the rules and regulations in education today. These laws include No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and IDEA, (Learning Disabilities, Emotional Disturbance, Traumatic Brain Injury, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Mental Retardation, Other Health Impaired (e.g., AD/HD), Orthopedic Impairments, Speech and Language Impairments, Autism, Multiple Disabilities, Deaf-Blindness, Development Delays as well as others such as gifted students, bilingual students, and more).
